Bio
Erik grew up hearing “TV will rot your mind.”
But now… where was I going with this?
Erik just found the front facing camera on his phone.
Erik Fritts-Davis is a comedy writer hailing from Sacramento, CA.
He writes about being a zebra in a herd of horses, or vice versa.
Erik honed his craft first as a sketch writer at Upright Citizens Brigade and iO West and was co-founder of the first ever all-Native American sketch troupe at The Second City.
Erik earned his MFA in Screenwriting at USC School of Cinematic Arts, a BA in Film Production (magna cum laude) from CSU Sacramento, and a post-grad certificate from the UCLA Professional Program in TV Comedy Writing. At USC, Erik recieved, the Jack Oakie Annual Award for excellence in comedy, and the Barnett Kellman award for directing, as well as an “ass-load” of debt. Additionally, he’s been recognized with a Bazzanella Literary Award and being named a Cobell Scholar, and he is capable of making up more awards if you’d like.
Erik spent his early twenties working as a wilderness guide, spending off seasons hitchhiking around the US, even hopping the occasional freight train. No, he never carried his belongings in a handkerchief tied to the end of a stick. He enjoys camping, shooting pool, chess, gardening, hiphop, punk rock, and close-up magic. Obviously, he is a level 40 Pokémon trainer.
Erik is Ojibwe, and an enrolled member of the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community.
No, he doesn’t rain dance; but if he doesn’t bring his jacket with him, it will rain, so there’s that.
